I made use of my nephews who had a half-term holiday to give me a hand setting up the longarm frame. As they were not my own children I had stop after a reasonable time and I had to pay them. I don’t think the frames are really meant to be dismantled and set up again 3 or 4 times. I had difficulty getting some of the side bolts to hold but that could well have been down to my own incompetence and impatience. Let’s just say that I may have invented an emergency support using a piece of wood and some gaffer tape.
I lost my spirit level in the move and despite having a garage full of unnecessary items, I had to order a new one to check that the frame was level. It seems to be level-ish. I am not sure how well it would cope with freehand quilting but if the Q-Matic works and I can do customer quilts I will count that as a win.
I am spending a fortune on Really Useful plastic boxes so I can gradually repack all of my belongings. The cardboard ones that I used for moving have almost all collapsed and once they are opened to extract things are even more useless. I have also bought some wheeled “dollies” so I can stack the boxes high in the garage and move them around. Eventually I will have to unpack and repack everything that I shoved into storage bags. Most of the vacuum packed things have reinflated and I am still rotating 3 pairs of dungarees and 3 striped tops because I have not got enough wardrobe space.
Hopefully, I have a couple of quilts arriving in the post this week so I can take advantage of a pre-Christmas quilting rush.
